University Oaks Criterium - June 1st, 15th & 29th

Posted on Monday 12 May 2008

crit photo.jpgWe are co-presenting a criterium series with Bicycle Heaven and promoter Drew Akin to be held on 3 Sunday mornings in June: June 1st, June 15th and June 29th. The flyer can be downloaded here. Pre-registration is now open and can be found here.

The race course is a 1k flat and fast, non-technical triangular drag strip through a local office park just inside 1604 off of Lockhill-Selma Rd. Click here for a map. It offers two 90-degree-ish turns and two 45s with only one corner that offers some recovery. This should be a great warm-up for the speeds required for the AT&T Downtown Crit to be held on Saturday, June 21st.

If you have never raced a crit, this should be your first. It’s not technical. So no sweeping turns to maneuver with you and 20 of your closest friends. Yes there are turns, but only 4 per lap. So tri guys and gals, come on out and give it a try. You’ll like it. Plus crits are short. This is no 50-mile slog through the countryside, but 40-50 minutes of adrenaline pumping two wheel speed. Please go ahead and pre-register here. Gracias!

Amazing Athletes

Posted on Monday 14 April 2008

Bill Pace and Brian Ricketts have reason to smile… both have had some amazing results! Brian won FIRST PLACE at the Camp Eagle Trail Marathon on 3/30/08 setting a course record (so what if it was the first year… still has a nice ring to it). Bill Pace tore it up at the Gonzo Du placing 3rd out of 12 in his age group. Then, on 4/12/08 he placed 1st in his age group at the TriSoler Duathlon.

Congrats guys and keep up the great work!

Hammerfest race report from the “old guys”

Posted on Sunday 13 April 2008

This past Friday 7 Peak Fitness Racing teammates headed out to God’s country - Ft. Davis - for our 3rd attempt at Texas’ most difficult stage race - Hammerfest. This is one of the most beautiful, scenic, lactic acid inducing places in the state. The base elevation is 5200 ft with peaks as high as 7200 ft. Six of us old guys competed in the 35+ 4/5 category with Cole “the Boss” taking on the entire Cat 4 filed single-handed.

Saturday morning we tore up an out-and-back 16-mile time trial course with a 9-mile false flat tailwind section followed by a 7-mile downhill headwind. Mike “the Godfather” Adams stole the show with a 13th place finish, 1 second and 1 place ahead of 14th place Scott “Thor, God of Power” McMillian. Morris “Meatball” Camp came in 47-seconds behind Thor for 15th place with Henry “Hincapie” Martinez finishing 11-seconds back for 17th place and the most improved finish from last year aboard his new Cervelo P2 speed machine. 61 seconds separated 4 of us! “Billy Goat” Earthman showed off his Michael Rasmussen-like TT skills with a 27th place with John “The Playa” Spencer trailing in his first ever TT debut. The Playa flatted as he rolled up to the start and then about torqued his clip-on bars off the bike with his massive force and his sprinters physique. (more…)

PFR 2007 Athlete Scholarship

Posted on Monday 10 December 2007

In 2007 we had an amazing start to building our team. A special thanks to everyone who has raced for us as well as supported our efforts! We feel very fortunate to have had a successful first year and felt that giving back was in need. We created the PFR Athlete Scholarship using left over funds to help out two athletes who 1) race and 2) show potential and motivation to excel in their sport. The two athletes awarded this year were Cole Adams and Kara Bunce. Each athlete will receive a $250 credit that can go toward race fees and team kits.

Congratulations to both Cole and Kara!

His comment the next day “By the way, my legs feel really good today. If I had to run another marathon, I think I could.”

27 podiums, 51 top 10 placings, and 86 top 20s!

Posted on Wednesday 10 October 2007

And we have a few races left! These are some impressive results for a new team that only started getting organized just a year ago! For a team that truly focuses on recruiting good, nice people that bring an encouraging attitude to train and race every day, these results seem unlikely! But you have to admit, these are truly impressive results for any multi-sport team in the country! I applaud your athletic efforts and commend you on your inspiring personalities! Here are the details.
